Cancer Wellness Programs and Support Groups

These programs are for those who wish to maintain optimal wellness following a cancer diagnosis and while undergoing treatment and recovery:

• I Can Cope
  Oncology nurse Cathy Blazek leads this free series of educational classes for people confronting a cancer diagnosis. Open to patients and families through the collaborative efforts of the American Cancer Society and Palomar Health Cancer Resources. To learn more, call 858.675.5072.

• Women’s Cancer Support Groups
  The best support often comes from those who have, themselves, experience cancer and treatment. The Women's Cancer Support Groups are open to women of all ages confronting any cancer diagnosis. One group is offered in Poway:

  Jean McLaughlin Women's Center for Health and Healing, Education Classroom
  10:30 a.m. to Noon, 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month

Products for Women Recovering from Cancer:

• Women's Health Connection Boutique and Resource Center
  The Women's Health Connection Boutique and Resource Center, located on the first floor of the new Pomerado Outpatient Pavilion, offers a wide variety of competitively priced new wigs, wig products, hats and turbans for women who have hair loss related to chemotherapy. The Boutique will also soon be offering the latest external breast forms (prostheses) from Amoena® for women who have had a mastectomy. (Women will be provided with the appropriate form for use in filing for insurance reimbursement.)
  Additionally, Palomar Health Cancer Resources, in collaboration with the American Cancer Society, provide free used wigs, wig products, turbans and caps for women with hair loss related to chemotherapy. For more information on qualification for this program, please call 858.613.6044.
   
• Look Good . . . Feel Better
  Cancer can rob a woman of her energy, appetite and strength. But it doesn’t have to take away her self-confidence. Look Good ... Feel Better is a FREE American Cancer Society program designed to help women cope with the appearance-related side effects of cancer treatment. All cosmetics and skin-care products are complimentary. Palomar Health is pleased to be able to host these free classes throughout the year at Palomar Medical Center and Pomerado Hospital.
