Brief Intervention Therapy

Brief intervention therapy is a series of short counseling sessions for people with alcohol problems. The sessions usually last between 5 to 20 minutes on one or more occasions.

During these sessions, a primary care doctor gives feedback about problems caused by a person's drinking habits. The doctor will also give advice on how to drink less or quit drinking.
