Palomar Health, is a public, non-profit health care district in North San Diego County with hospitals in Escondido and Poway, as well as several other facilities in the region. It is overseen by a publicly-elected board of directors and provides a wide range of medical services, including primary care, cardiovascular care, emergency services, cancer treatment, orthopedic and spine services, women’s health, rehabilitation, home health care, robotic surgery, stereotactic radiosurgery and bariatric weight-loss surgery.
With a service area of more than 800 square miles, Palomar Health is the largest public health-care district by area in California. About 507,000 people live in the 63-year-old district, whose boundaries include Escondido, Poway, San Marcos, Rancho Bernardo, Rancho Peñasquitos, Ramona, Julian, Valley Center, Santa Ysabel and Pauma Valley.
