Know These Life-Threatening Symptoms By Heart

Heart disease is America’s Number One Killer.

By recognizing the symptoms of a heart attack and getting help quickly, your chances of surviving and minimizing muscle damage increase dramatically.

Heart attack symptoms may be sudden or unfold slowly. The discomfort may be constant or it may come and go. But you should never ignore any of these signs:

  • Pain or tightening in the chest.
  • Radiating pain in the arm, neck, back, stomach or jaw.
  • Sweating.
  • Nausea.
  • Shortness of breath.
  • Dizziness.
  • Weakness.

If you or anyone around you is experiencing any of these symptoms, don’t drive to the hospital. Call 911. It’s the quickest road to survival.

The Heart of the Matter for Women

Many people don’t realize that women account for nearly 50% of all heart attack deaths. Part of the reason is that women are less likely to act on heart attack symptoms. And while the most common symptom is chest pain, women are more likely to experience the other heart attack signs such as shortness of breath, nausea and back or jaw pain.
