Palomar Health delivers on Prop BB promise: new Ramona clinic to open March 18

Palomar Health has made good on its promise to build a state-of-the art-health-care facility that will serve residents of Ramona and surrounding communities.

Construction of the new $6 million Ramona Ambulatory Care Center has been completed and the 7,600-square-foot outpatient clinic, which was built with funds from Proposition BB, is scheduled to open March 18.

“We’re very excited to be expanding services in North County and to be honoring our commitment to residents of Ramona by building a state-of-the-art facility in their community that can grow with the needs of the area in the future,” said Palomar Health CEO & President Michael H. Covert.

“Our commitment to the communities that the new clinic will serve runs deep, which is the reason that it will be staffed by Arch Health Partners, a top quality medical group that has been caring for Ramona area residents for many years,” Covert said.

Arch Health Partners, Palomar Health’s physician partner, will be the exclusive tenant of the new one-story building at 211 13th Street, near Main Street and just across the Ramona Branch Library. Arch Health Partners physicians have been in Ramona for more than 20 years, and will be relocating from their current location on Main Street.

The new office will be home to Drs. Ellen Blando, Charles Hardison, Janine Kasch, Christine Lind, Gordon Luan and Robert Zgliniec. Physician office hours will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The Ramona Ambulatory Care Center will provide primary-care services, digital X-ray services, point-of-care lab testing and urgent care services. The Urgent Care Center is scheduled to open April 1. Initially, its hours will be 3 to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

An open house celebration for area residents is scheduled for April 13.

“The most exciting thing about this project is that it was developed and built in response to the needs of the Ramona and surrounding mountain communities,” said Arch Health Partners Executive Director Victoria Lister, F.A.C.H.E. “We were very fortunate to have Ramona community members involved with the design of the building and make certain it fit the landscape on Main Street,” she said.

The new radiology services mean Ramona area residents will no longer need to drive down the hill to Poway for an X-ray. The new digital X-ray machine at the clinic will connect physicians in Ramona with hospitals and physicians throughout Palomar Health.

“This new medical center expands services for people who live in Ramona, Julian, Santa Ysabel and nearby communities,” said Arch Health Partners Medical Director Scott Flinn, M.D. “The physicians, staff and patients are very excited about this move,” Dr. Flinn said.

The new Ramona Ambulatory Care Center was designed by Mascari Warner Architects of San Diego, built by C.W. Driver and is co-owned by Palomar Health and Pacific Medical Buildings.

It was built with funds from Proposition BB, the bond measure Palomar Health district voters overwhelmingly passed in 2004 to modernize and expand facilities throughout the district.
