Palomar Health offers free class on beating breast cancer

More than 200,000 women and men are diagnosed with breast cancer each year. Are you at risk? Are you up to date on the latest diagnosis and treatment options?

Join a panel of experts at the Palomar Health Downtown Campus in Escondido on Thursday, May 16 from 6 – 8:00 p.m. for a special panel discussion on how to beat breast cancer. The panel from primary care, medical oncology, breast surgery, plastic/ reconstructive surgery, radiation oncology, genetic counseling and nurse navigation will discuss detection to advanced surgical options.

Elizabeth Revesz, M.D., breast surgeon at the Jean McLaughlin Women’s Center for Health and Healing, will moderate this FREE event in North San Diego County.

Breast Cancer Facts
Breast cancer not only affects middle-aged women, but thousands of men and women in their 20s and 30s as well. This year alone, more than 225,000 people – primarily women – will be diagnosed, and nearly 40,000 women in the United States will die from breast cancer. With treatment advances, early detection and increased awareness, death rates have decreased by about 2 percent each year since 1990.

The Jean McLaughlin Women’s Center for Health and Healing, located inside the Pomerado Outpatient Pavilion at 15611 Pomerado Road in Poway, features comprehensive, coordinated breast health services including screening, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation.

Designated as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology, the Center offers an array of advanced imaging capabilities within a peaceful, healing environment. Technologies include digital mammography, MRI and ultrasound, as well as prone and upright breast biopsies. Women do not need a doctor’s order for a routine screening mammogram. Extended hours are available and walk-ins are accepted.
