Do you accidentally leak urine when you cough, sneeze or exercise? You may have a pelvic floor condition that is very treatable. Palomar Health is offering a free class on finding relief from pelvic pain, prolapse and incontinence.
Join pelvic floor specialists, Palomar Health OB/GYN Brano Cizmar, M.D., and Physical Therapist Michelle Loureiro, MPT, Thursday, May 30, 6 – 7:30 p.m. at Pomerado Outpatient Pavilion, next to Pomerado Hospital in Poway for an intimate discussion about symptoms, risk factors, treatment and management options.
“There are noninvasive treatments as well as surgery,” says Dr. Cizmar. “Choosing an option can depend on the severity and what the patient has tried already.”
Pelvic floor muscles support the bladder, uterus and bowel and when problems arise it is often as a result of a pregnancy, radiation, trauma or hormonal changes. Symptoms may include pain during intercourse and urinary/bowel incontinence. These conditions are highly treatable through lifestyle modifications, physical therapy, medication, or simple surgical procedures.
