NORTH COUNTY — Palomar Pomerado Health has merged with an expanding physicians group as part of its ongoing attempt to dominate fast-growing North County’s health care market.
The new entity, called Arch Health Partners, is the first medical group that is a PPH hospital subsidiary. It will refer patients exclusively within the Palomar Pomerado Health system unless patients need care that the group cannot provide, said PPH spokesman Andy Hoang.
Arch Health Partners currently has 43 primary care physicians, specialists, physician assistants and nurse practitioners.
The physicians group, known formerly as Centre for Healthcare, already operates out of Pomerado Hospital in Poway, a PPH facility.
Hoang said the new group is expected to add 100 doctors, both inside its inland North County district as well as possibly on the coast. The coast is outside the district’s territory and in that of rival Tri-City Medical Center.
“If other physician groups outside our district want to join us, who are we to say no?” Hoang said.
“As we grow, we may have opportunities to expand our services into secondary markets, which include Oceanside and all of North County.”
