Palomar Health Community Action Councils

A community is the place we call home. It is where our children go to school, where neighbors congregate and where our families develop ties. The strength of any community is dependent upon the commitment of its residents to create a safe, supportive and healthy environment.

The Palomar Pomerado Health Board of Directors saw a way to build on the strengths of the communities we serve when they established the five Community Action Councils (CACs).

The Councils’ goals are to identify and address the healthcare needs of our communities through mutual support and partnership. Council committees develop projects and provide resources that will improve the lives of persons living in the Palomar Health service area. As a primary source for community information, the Palomar Health CACs have partnered with 2-1-1 San Diego to help connect people to the resources they need. For a listing of the Councils' accomplishments, visit the individual regions below:

Membership is open to agency and community representatives at the local and regional level from education and civic associations, service clubs, government, law enforcement, health and human service agencies, businesses and community activists. Through these partnerships the CACs:

  • Improve health of Palomar Health communities
  • Create and improve programs
  • Strengthen ties to the communities
  • Build relationships with key leaders
  • Educate residents to current Palomar Health and community resources
  • Assess community priorities and develop plans for service enhancement
