Theodore E. (TED) Kleiter

Mr. Kleiter has been a member of the Palomar Health Board of Directors since 1996. During his tenure, he has served as Chair of the Board and member of the Finance, Human Resources, Quality, Strategic Planning and Audit Committees. He is currently Chair of the Board.

Born in St. Paul, Minnesota, a U.S. Navy veteran, Mr. Kleiter has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from San Diego State University and a Certificate in Healthcare Administration from UCLA.

Mr. Kleiter has over 35 years of experience in hospital and healthcare administration. During his career, he served as Administrator at Vista Hill Foundation Hospital; Director of Finance, Assistant Administrator, and Chief Operating Officer of Palomar Medical Center in Escondido; and Executive Vice President for Development and Outreach for Palomar Health.

In addition to his professional roles, Mr. Kleiter is actively involved in the community. He is the Vice Chair of the Board of the BETA Healthcare Group. Mr. Kleiter was recognized as the 2011 Trustee of the Year by the Association of California Healthcare Districts; he also received the 2011 Annual Excellence in Governance Award from the California Hospital Association. Mr. Kleiter is also an Honorary member of the Escondido Kiwanis Club and a George F. Hixon Fellow. 

He and his wife, Georgeiana, lived in Escondido for 35 years. Now retired, they reside in San Marcos.
