Breast Health Nurse Navigator at the Jean McLaughlin Women's Center for Health and Healing
Our breast health nurse navigator is an oncology-certified registered nurse with specialized training in breast cancer. She understands the confusion and anxiety experienced by women who are confronting breast cancer. She meets with women individually via phone or by appointment in her office to answer questions about diagnosis, treatment and survivorship issues. She also provides support and refers to community resources, as needed. These consultation services are free of charge.

Susan is a breast patient navigator at the Jean McLaughlin Women’s Center for Health and Healing at the Pomerado Outpatient Pavilion. She serves as a proactive patient representative providing support and guidance to patients as they “navigate” through complex breast health care issues and treatment. She expedites access to care as women and their families cope with breast cancer diagnosis and treatment. She also serves as an educational resource for the facility and community on breast cancer related topics.
Susan is a registered nurse with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from York College of Pennsylvania and a Master of Science degree in Nursing from Benedictine University. She is an Oncology Certified Nurse with more than sixteen years of nursing experience in the field of oncology, as well as a member of Sigma Theta Tau, International Honor Society of Nursing. Susan has a background in nursing education with a focus on adult learning theories. She works as a nursing instructor at a local college and has been instrumental in the creation and implementation of several patient education programs throughout her nursing career.
Susan is available to all patients at the Jean McLaughlin Women’s Center for Health and Healing. She is a member of a multidisciplinary team comprised of experts in surgical oncology, medical oncology, and radiation oncology, as well as a genetic counselor. She provides patients with the unique service of patient navigation, an effective patient-centered program that improves early cancer detection, increases adherence to cancer screenings and treatment, facilitates communication with health care professionals and assists patients in accessing community resources.
