Palomar Health Volunteer Honored by City of Escondido

Longtime Palomar Health volunteer Margie Ballard was honored with the Escondido City Council Award for Compassion at the State of the City address on February 22. Margie has been volunteering with our health system for 29 years! She started off at the Downtown Escondido Campus, and is now working at Palomar Medical Center Escondido making charts for the newborn babies in the newly relocated Birth Center. Fran Waller, Palomar Health’s director of community engagement, outreach, nominated the much beloved Margie for the honor. “She has given over 13,000 hours of heartfelt service to thousands of patients, families and infants in our community, says Waller. “And she has not missed out on any of her volunteer shifts - she even volunteers to sub shifts that others cannot cover.
