​Bargaining Update – CNA Negotiations

Palomar Health and the California Nurses Association (CNA) met on March 23 for their second day of contract negotiations.  Highlights of the bargaining session included:   Palomar Health proposed changes to Article 12 – Hours of Work to improve our weekend staffing capability. In Article 24 – Job Postings, Transfers and Promotions, Palomar Health proposed that new grads commit to their learning and development for one year before transferring to a second position.   CNA presented Palomar Health with proposals related to Article 35 – Safe Patient Handling/Lift Program and its RN Response Network, and submitted a counterproposal regarding Article 1 – Recognition.  CNA distributed a long list of duties it believes nurses should ordinarily not perform, except in “certain life threatening situations.” Palomar Health’s bargaining team responded that nurses do ...
