Wayne Herron - Vice President Philanthropy, Palomar Health Foundation

Palomar Health welcomed Wayne Herron as the Vice President of Philanthropy in early 2019. He brings more than 20 years of fundraising experience to the Palomar Health Foundation. 

Wayne has built his philanthropic career in the education and healthcare industries and has a proven track record of leadership, being able to effectively build relationships and structure teams to produce results. 

Most recently, Wayne served as the Vice President of Philanthropy at Dignity Health Glendale Memorial Hospital and Health Center in Glendale, California where he was responsible for the hospital's foundation team and Board of Directors. Under his leadership, the foundation raised $20 milion to support four campaigns that included the remodeling of the hospital's Gastroenterology Lab (GI Lab), Center for Wound Health and Hyperbaric Medicine, main lobby and gift shop, the privatization of patient rooms, and the purchase of more than 25 pieces of new surgical equipment. During his tenure at Glendale Memorial, Wayne also led the effort to secure a $2.5 million transformational gift, the largest charitable gift in the hospital's history.

After completing his Bachelor of Science degree at New Hope Christian College in Eugene, Oregon, Wayne graduated with a Masters of Divinity degree from the Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California where he also began his career in philanthropy. In 2017, he received the Outstanding Leadership Award from the Southern California Association of Healthcare Development, and in 2018 he was given the Outstanding Professional Fundraiser award by the Association of Fundraising Professionals - Greater Los Angeles Chapter.
