Douglas Moir, MD, FACC

Douglas Moir, MD, FACC, has been a cardiologist caring for patients at Palomar Health for more than 40 years.

Dr. Moir received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Stanford University and earned his medical degree at Washington University School of Medicine. He completed an internship and residency at Georgetown University School of Medicine, and a fellowship at George Washington University Hospital.

He has held a number of hospital leadership positions including Chair of the Department of Medicine, Chair of the Institutional Review Board, Chair of the Physicians’ Wellness Committee and Medical Executive Committee member. He has been a member of the Palomar Health Foundation Board of Directors since 2004 and Physicians’ Council since 2015, and has chaired both groups during his membership.

Dr. Moir has been recognized by Palomar Health with a Unity Award and Leadership Service Award. He received a Heart of the City award from Palomar Family Counseling, was named the 2004 Volunteer of the Year for the North County Philanthropy Council and received the first Jack Raymond Community Service award from the Escondido Chamber of Commerce. In 2018, Dr. Moir was honored by being given Robert Krejci Standards of Excellence Award for outstanding service to the community the by North County Philanthropy Council.

He is a founding member of the California Center for the Arts in Escondido and the Escondido Charitable Foundation.

Dr. Moir and his wife are actively involved in many community activities and are major donors to Palomar Health.
