Psychology Training Program

Pre-doctoral Psychology Internships and Post-doctoral Psychology Fellowships are offered at both the Intensive Outpatient Program in San Marcos and the Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit in Escondido.

The Behavioral Health Continuum of Care includes Emergency Room Evaluations, 24-hour treatment in the Crisis Stabilization Unit, inpatient psychiatric care at the Behavioral Health Unit and Gero-Psychiatric Unit, Medical Floor consultations, and Mental Health Intensive Outpatient Program care.
 
Positions are fulltime, 40 hours per week for one year and paid. Populations served include:
  • Acute and chronic mentally ill adults and older adults
  • Providing individual and group psychotherapy
  • Risk assessment
  • Family therapy
  • Case management of caseload
  • Psychological screenings and assessment
  • Multi-disciplinary treatment planning conferences
  • Didactic seminars
  • Community referrals 
Post-doctoral fellows additionally provide consultation to various other departments in the hospital district, including:
  • Acute Rehabilitation Unit
  • Skilled Nursing Facility
  • Various community outreach and psycho-educational trainings at local senior centers and university campuses
Interns wishing to apply must follow CAPIC guidelines (California Psychology Internship Council), whereas post-doctoral fellows simply email their resume and three letters of recommendation directly to the respective outpatient and/or inpatient supervisors:
