A half-cup of unsalted cooked cereal, rice or pasta, for instance, has 5 or less mg of sodium, according to the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute. A cup of ready-to-eat cereal can have up to 360 mg of sodium, and a slice of commercial bread, from 110 to 175 mg.
