Mayo Clinic

As a member of the Mayo Clinic Care Network (MCCN) since December 2013, Palomar Health formalized a relationship that recognizes both organizations’ mutual commitment to provide the best possible care to patients and their families. MCCN has grown since 2013 and as of August 2016 includes 40 hospital system members spanning the entire world.  The Mayo Clinic estimates that they can now reach about 10 million patients through this network.

To participate in MCCN, Palomar Health underwent a rigorous review which included every area of clinical and non-clinical operations, quality, governance, community service, culture, employee, physician, and patient engagement, financial performance, as well as on-site surveys by their network assessment team, and final review and approval by the Mayo Clinic Clinical Practice Council.  Palomar Health submits annual reports to the Mayo Clinic that demonstrate that our performance continues to meet the Mayo Clinic’s rigorous standards of quality.

This relationship underscores Palomar Health’s commitment to this community’s health by providing our physicians access to Mayo Clinic knowledge and tools to support the care of our patients. For our patients, it allows access to physician consultations between their physician and Mayo Clinic physicians without leaving their communities.

Through this membership, Palomar Health’s staff and physicians are able to collaborate on best practices, have access to key clinical and educational materials, and participate in physician-to-physician networking through specific initiatives, tools and products, and ongoing education and training – both through Webinar and on site at one of the Mayo Clinic locations. Palomar Health staff and physicians have access to subject matter experts through participation in formal projects with the Mayo Clinic, or through information exchanges where protocols or documents are available to address specific objectives. AskMayoExpert (AME) is a resource database for Palomar Health staff to quickly access treatment information at point of care. eConsults, a tool for electronic consultation on a diagnosis or treatment, provides Palomar Health specialists an easy way to consult with Mayo Clinic specialists on their sickest patients.
