First baby born at Palomar Medical Center Poway follows family legacy

As many people ushered in the New Year, Brittany Carroll and Julian Hess were busy making preparations for the arrival of their second child, Heath Hess. He officially arrived at Palomar Medical Center Poway at 10:36 a.m., early enough to be the first baby born at the hospital in 2018.

Heath’s family has quite a legacy at Palomar Medical Center Poway. His mother Brittany was born there many (not too many) years ago and his grandmother Lorie Carroll (Brittany’s mom) works in the same building as a nurse in Medical Surgery. Brittany followed in her mother’s footsteps and currently works as a nurse at Sharp.

The Carroll-Hess family lives in Rancho Bernardo.

At Palomar Medical Center Escondido, Baby Emma arrived at 12:54 a.m., the first baby born in Escondido (at least at a hospital). Her parents, Vanessa and Sergio asked we not use their last name. Emma is their second child. The family lives in Vista. Baby Emma arrived 10 weeks early, so she will be spending some extra time with us.
