How do I apply for a position?

At Palomar Health, we only accept online employment applications. To apply, visit our careers page at www.palomarhealth.org/careers.

I don’t have a computer. Where can I apply?

You may apply on any computer with Internet access: a friend’s house, public library, EDD office, or you may visit Palomar Health Human Resources office located at: 456 E Grand Avenue, Escondido, CA 92025.

Why do I need to create an ID and password in order to save my Candidate Profile?

A unique login and password provides a secure way for you to access your profile when updating your information, or applying to additional positions with Palomar Health. Don’t forget to make a note of your login/password for future reference.

Do I need an e-mail address to create a Candidate Profile?

It is recommended that you include an email address as part of your profile so that Palomar Health may be able to communicate with you via email.
If you don’t already have an email address, you can create one for free with Yahoo by clicking on Yahoo! Email or with Google by clicking on Gmail.
If you do not want to create an email address, you may use the following format: FirstName.LastName@NoEmail.com.  Example:  Betty.Jones@noemail.com

I clicked to apply online and nothing is happening?

Your computer may be blocking pop-ups. Our application is on a secure site you access through a pop-up. You may “allow pop-ups” or “temporarily allow pop-ups” on your computer’s firewall settings to access the application.

Can I apply for a position that is not currently posted?

No, a position has to be posted in order for you to complete an application. The website is updated daily so check back frequently for updated job listings. Alternatively, to get automatic notification on when new positions are posted, you may set up a Job Agent.

How do I edit or update my application?

We highly recommend that you review your application very carefully before submitting. Once submitted the application cannot be edited by you. You may submit a new application, however please note the system may not allow you to apply more than two times to the same requisition.  If you have a significant change on your application, please contact the Human Resources Department.

Do I have to type my information all over again each time I apply for a position?

As long as you have applied once in the past, your information will be saved in our system. Once you click to apply to a new position, you will be prompted to select the option “Copy my Application”. By doing this you will be able to able to transfer the information from your previous application to a new one. You will have the opportunity to review your new application, edit any answers and complete any questions not pre-filled from your previous application.

If I’ve previously completed the Behavior Interview Survey, do I need do this again?

If you completed the survey in the last 12 months, you do not have to take the survey again.  If it has been over 12 months since your last application, you may need to retake the survey.

How often is your website updated?

Our job listing site is updated in real-time. All positions available on our job postings page are active and we are accepting applications.

Are the positions on the website really available?

Yes. All positions on the website are available right now, regardless of the date they were posted. Positions are removed immediately if they are no longer available.

How can I be notified when new positions become available?

By setting up a job agent, you will be able to get email notifications once jobs of your interest are posted on the job board. To set up a job agent, you will first need to create an account in the same way as you would do if you were applying for a job. Follow these instructions:

Visit our careers page at www.palomarhealth.org/careers.
Select “Job Search”.
Select the position of interest. Click on the link at the bottom of the page “Click Here to Apply Online”.
This will bring up the login window. Enter your username and password that you created with your first application or if not already created, create new account by clicking on “Apply Now”.
Now go to “Job Agent” to select jobs you would be interested in hearing about. You will receive an email when positions become available.

How do I find jobs posted for a specific facility?

You may select the facility in the “Select a Location” box to view open positions in a particular facility.

Once I apply directly to a position, will you confirm that you have received my resume?

Yes, an automated email will be sent to you confirming receipt of your application.

After I have applied online, should I also e-mail, fax or mail a copy of my resume and cover letter to Palomar Health?

Once you have submitted an online application, you do not need to contact us to provide additional information. All the information required to consider your application is contained in your profile and the online application itself.

What are the next steps in the process after I submit my resume?

Your resume will be reviewed against the position’s qualifications by a Recruiter. If you meet the minimum requirements for the position your resume will be sent to the hiring manager. The manager will then request interviews to be set up with those determined to be a good match. The hiring manager may contact you directly by email or phone to schedule a phone and/or on-site interview. Based on the results of these interviews, an offer for employment will be extended to the most qualified applicant.

How can I meet with a recruiter to discuss my background?

Due to the volume of daily profile submissions our recruiters receive, we cannot guarantee an opportunity to discuss your qualifications with a recruiter. Should a particular current opening match your skills, we will call you directly to set up a time to discuss further.

What are the hours of the position? How do I find out?

Each position lists the schedule, shift and hours. Schedule may be Full time, Part Time 1, Part Time 2 or Per Diem. Shift may be day time, evening, night or varies (timings may vary). Hours may be 4, 6, 8, 10 or 12.  Specific hours will be determined by the department. At the time of interview, you may ask about the specific hours for the position.

What departments do Float Pool Critical Care RNs work in?

Float Pool Critical Care RNs float between Surgical and Trauma ICU, Cardiovascular ICU, Progressive Care and Observation units located at Palomar Medical Center and Pomerado Hospital.

What departments do Float Pool Med Surg Tele RNs work in?

Float Pool Med Surg Tele RNs float between Cardiovascular Acute Care, Ortho Acute Care, Neuro Acute Care, Medical Oncology Acute Care, Surgical Acute Care, Observation and Med/Surg/Tele units located at Palomar Medical Center and Pomerado Hospital.

What departments do Float Pool Emergency (ED) RNs work in?

The ED float cluster consist of RNs floating between ED, Observation and ICU at Palomar Medical Center and Pomerado Hospital. Since not all ED nurses have ICU experience, RNs will be provided orientation at both campuses prior to floating to that area.

Do you have entry level positions that require no experience?

Some entry level positions may be listed under the categories “General Services” or “Clerical”. Examples of positions that do not require experience include Patient Transporter, Environmental Service Worker and Food Service Worker. In order to be considered, you must meet minimum requirements for the position.

Do you offer training if I do not have the experience?

Some positions may offer training. It will be specified in the job description.

Do you sponsor foreign nurses?

Unfortunately, at present, due to immigration limitations/restrictions, we do not sponsor foreign nurses.
